Automated assembly of enclosure components The shortage of skilled workers and digitalization are also of concern to control cabinet manufacturers Wago is presenting a vision for the future in this regard – Dr Michael Dörbaum Head of PM Cabinet Components Offerings explains the background Dr Dörbaum one of the demonstrators at the Hannover Messe is called Wago Cabinet Assembly Robot – what‘s behind it? We take an indepth look at the requirements of control cabinet manufacturers whose major issues include the shortage of skilled workers and digitalization With our Cabinet Offerings – products and solutions for all steps of the control cabinet construction process – we already offer concrete solutions to alleviate the shortage of skilled workers and to enable digitalization Our Cabinet Assembly Robot is a concrete vision of the future for the automated assembly of control cabinet components The WCAR flexibly and collaboratively installs terminals from different manufacturers in our pilot application small building distributor What are its special features? Our WCAR is a socalled cobot – a robot that makes the integration into the existing workshop environment easily possible without the need for protective equipment In addition the WCAR is basically manufacturerindependent which means that the relevant data must be provided and the products must be taught and tested With this cobot we increase process efficiency directly at the control cabinet instead of on the rail There is no need for additional assembly steps which are necessary for similar commercially available solutions In addition we are already showing the first milestones on the way to digital consistency Is it an inhouse development by Wago or are partners involved? Thanks to our complex manufacturing processes we already have a lot of expertise – including in robotics In the early development phase we carried out initial research projects together with Fraunhofer IPA Subsequently we used the collected results to further develop the solution together with our partner Pro-F Automation to the current state For whom is the solution intended? What‘s in it for the users? Currently this solution is not yet available on the market and we do not plan to make it generally available in 2024 Initially we will set up individual systems with pilot customers with whom we work closely to gain further insights The first focus is on building installation distributors However we are working on bringing the topic to other industries and bringing the technology to industrial series production Basically the solution is interesting for every machine and plant manufacturer because dealing with this topic helps to test one‘s own readiness to work with robots and to prepare for the future ik Hall 11 Booth C72 Wago www wago com HANNOVER MESSE DAILY 2024 Dienstag 23 April 2024 Messe aktuell | 11 www industrialproduction de KNF pumps ensure smooth running With technologies that are both pioneering and triedandtested We are the driving force in key systems for reliable medical care a healthy environment safe industrial processes and a resourceefficient energy supply knf com OUR HEART BEATS FOR TOMORROW HYDROGEN + FUEL CELLS EUROPE 2024 Hall 13 E03 1 Dr Michael Dörbaum Head of PM Cabinet Components Offerings at Wago Image Wago
